Whether you're looking for an easy way to physical fitness at home, or you're pressed for time and can't make it to the gym, there are plenty of ways to get your heart rate up without having to buy a single piece of health and fitness equipment. You simply don't need to spend a lot of money to get your sweat on.
Here are ten household items that you can use for exercises at home to boost your health:
1. A countertop: Countertop push-ups are an excellent exercise to do to develop your chest and shoulders. These are great things to do while the oven is heating up or the water is boiling.
2. A broom: Try doing push-ups on the floor or against a wall with the broom between your legs, so that it's touching your forehead and hips. You'll get extra core strength by stabilizing yourself against the broom handle.
3. A chair: Sit on a chair and hold on to either side of it with both hands, keeping your back straight as you bend forward at the waist and stretch down toward the ground (or as far as you can). Hold this position for 10 seconds and then relax for 2 seconds before repeating it again. Repeat 10 times per session to reap the benefits of this simple exercise.
4. A pair of dumbbells: You don't need fancy fitness equipment to work out - just grab two dumbbells from your garage or basement. Simply stand with feet shoulder-width apart and lift one dumbbell in each hand, keeping arms straight out and palms facing in toward each other (like when holding a knife). Now twist at the waist and swing your arms up overhead while turning to one side.
5. Balloons - Grab a balloon and some weights (or even a full glass of water), and squeeze it with one hand while lifting the weight with the other. If the weight is too light, add more water or sand until you find a weight that's challenging but still manageable.
6. Books - Stack books under one arm while holding them with your other hand, then press them overhead as you would when doing curling exercises at the gym. You can also do reverse curls by standing up straight with your arms hanging down at your sides, then raise them up by raising one book in each hand behind you while keeping your elbows locked out (don't let them bend). This will help strengthen your biceps and shoulders!
7. Stairs: When you already have a perfectly decent staircase at home, why spend money on a treadmill or treadclimber? Without spending any money, jogging up and down the stairs will get your heart rate up and your glutes burning.
8. A wall: Is there any house on the earth without four walls? This is an absurd question. Isn't it? so walls provide support when stretching or performing wall sits to build your glutes and quads.
9. Water bottles: Similar to using hand weights or dumbbells, treat a water bottle that has been filled with water. Try some front lifts, tricep kickbacks, or overhead presses to give your arms a serious workout.
10. A towel: An individual's towel is another's resistance band! A towel can be used for stretching or for a killer arm workout. Do you want a challenge for your legs? With a small towel under each foot, assume the plank position on a smooth floor. Try gliding your legs apart and then back together very slowly and carefully. Let the burn begin.
So, why wait! start today only your home exercises for better health with the above-mentioned household items.
